Mom Creates Amazing iPhone Art with her Kids

Ali Jardine, a mother of two children, Gabe and Pippin, enjoys photographing her kids with her iPhone and creating images to share on Instagram. Her breathtaking images demonstrate the power of creativity and the her iPhone.
“Ali say that her kids are usually the subjects of my images, which make them very personal.” Her images tell a story that are often reminiscent of fairy tales, rich with both light and darkness. She shares her images on her Instagram channel that reaches more than 500,000 people every day.

Here’s a fun coloring page for your kids, and a great challenge too. How do you color something that is white – a snowman?

Many people may start to add color to the snowman. A little color might be a good thing, but for the most part, the snowman will look great if you color everything else, and leave him alone. If you do want to add a little color to the snowman, try light blue or light purple for his shaded side. Then, go crazy with the scarf and Santa hat.

Doodling for Kids

Doodling is a great way to find that creative person inside each of us… and it’s sort of fun.
Here’s a doodle that I drew awhile back. It started with one big bold, curvy line. Then I asked myself, “What is this?” I thought it looked like a pizza man. With a little more doodling I had one.
Challenge your kids. Draw a few shapes on a piece of paper, and ask them to make something out of them. There are no wrong answers here, just creative ideas.

Here’s a watercolor project that kids are sure to love!
1) Start with a free printable coloring page. You might be able to find this one. Any coloring page will do.
2) Tape the coloring page to an outside window. Then tape a sheet of watercolor paper over top. You should be able to see the coloring page lines.
3) Trace the lines.
4) Begin by mixing the paint for the face – Red and a little yellow. Paint.
5) Mix the paint for the hair. Then, wet the hair area with clean water. Paint the hair, leaving the top very light or white, as if the sun is washing it out.
6) Mix the paint for the dress and bows. Paint.
7) Paint the roses with pink and red. Be careful to leave whites here and there to make the flowers sparkle.
8) Finish painting the face. Add a slightly darker color to the neck and around the hair line. Use the same face color and add a little blue.
9) Paint the leaves around the flowers. Keep changing shares of green.
10) Pain the background. Remember to keep moving. Watercolor paint dies quickly.
Plein Air Drawing and Painting | Art Projects for Kids

Did you know that “Plein Air” drawing is a French term meaning “in the open air”. Painting outside is something that artist do every day these days. But it wasn’t always that way. In the late 1800s it was the Impressionists that decided to head outdoors to capture the effects of sunlight on a subject. There choice changed things forever.
Are you ready to get creative outside?
Step 1
Put together a basic set of art supplies. If you want to draw, and pencil, pad of paper, and an eraser is every thing you will need. If you want to paint, your basic set of supplies might be a little fancier.
Step 2
Go find a place that inspires you. Or maybe just the local park.
Step 3
Consider the scene that you are about to draw. Maybe it’s perfect just the way is is. If so, jump in. Start drawing. Sometimes artists like to modify a scene a bit to make it more dramatic. If you have an idea to make it better, do it. We never get better unless we try our ideas out.
Step 4
When you are finished drawing/painting place your art about 6-8 feet from you, and take a good look at it. Ask yourself, “Does it look good?”, “How could it look better?”, “Are the enough lights and darks to make it pop off the page?” Make the necessary changes.

Try another picture!
