Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso (25 October 1881 –8 April 1973) was a Spanish painter, draughtsman, and sculptor. As one of the most recognized figures in 20th-century art, he is best known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles embodied in his work. Among his most famous works are the proto-Cubist Les Demoiselles d’Avignon (1907) and Guernica (1937), his depiction of the German bombing of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War.

At an early age Pablo showed an interest in drawing. His first words were “piz, piz”, which is short for “lapiz”, the Spanish word for pencil. At the age of 7 Pablo began receiving art instruction from his father. His father believed that an artist’s training should include copying the masters, and drawing the human body from plaster casts and live models. The precision of Pablo’s painting technique grew, until it soon surpassed that of his father.

Pablo Picasso (b.1881-d.1973) Spanish Modern Artist

Pablo Picasso was born in 1881 in Malaga, Spain to Don Jose Ruiz y Blasco, an art teacher, and Maria Picasso y Lopez. He is the co-founded Cubism, a technique that allowed an artist to show his subject from several different viewpoints, rather than only one. He enjoyed a prolific career in art, producing 20,000 artworks throughout his 70 year career. three of his most important works include, Les Demoiselles d’Avignon (1907), Guernica (1937), and Three Musicians (1921). Considered a prodigy in his youth, Picasso profoundly impacted the art of the 20th century.
